Movie Name: Ambasamudrathil Ambani
Cast : Karunas, Navneet Kaur, Kota Srinivasa Rao
Director : Ramnath P
Music director : Karunas
Nowadays even the most romantic stories have a serious message behind them but it is hard to get the right proportions of both to create a successful film. P. Ramnath’s Ambasamudram Ambani is one of those few films which have managed to do that right mix with the right amount of masala and message.
Karunas has shown foresight in choosing his role. It is not the same in all movies that it looks like it would be. He plays the character of a hard working man Dandapani, with a humorous sidekick called Karthi (Shankar) who will do anything to earn money.
In this movie Karunas does not feel bad for being dark instead he has high hopes to become the next wealthy Ambani but with a kind heart. He saves every paisa that he has doing all sorts of odd jobs and small enterprises. He even wakes up in the morning at 3 to say prayers because a Swami said so and buys tea for a man who he thinks would become an MP in the future.
The heroine Nandhini (Navneet Kaur) is another story as her father wants her to join the police force but she is totally interested. She meets Dandapani at an unsuccessful attempt to train herself for her future career although he does not feel the same way she does.
Now there is one more character called the Annachi (Ktta Sreenivasa Rao) who is an industrialist who is setting up a shopping complex where Dandapani wants to have a shop badly for which he pays in installments with all his savings. And that’s when all his troubles begin.
Although Shankar seems quite moulded for his character he has given a somewhat better performance than Karunas. Karunas plays the perfect mellow comedian who takes life the way it and deals things with the way he wants to. Navneeth has perfomed somewhat tho but no doubt she is just the glamour add to the movie. The other smaller characters are just spice added to the gravy.
The editing and set work has been well done although the songs act just as another bird in the bush. The movie is catchy and does not leave the viewer bored throughout. The director has portrayed a good message subtly and his story telling skills are prominent. The hard work of the cast makes the movie worth a watch. |
