VJ Craig Anthony Gallyot (yes he has French, Italian, Indian and
even British antecedents) is the perfect panacea if you've had an unusually
bad day. For with the twin weapons of wit and humour, he can charm even
the bees of their hard earned honey. In fact, by all accounts, he is SS
Music's most loved and admired VJ and has been regaling viewers for the
last six years.
This laugh riot wanted to become a pilot and there would presumably have
been many happy landings. But that was not to be and Craig pursued a degree
in computer science, confident that he was on the right track. However,
things just then were not rosy with the computer industry, with many dotcoms
going bust. His friend Naveen who was a VJ with SS Music, came to his rescue
asking him to come and audition for the role of a VJ. And the bigwigs at
SS Music were convinced that their search for a VJ had ended with Craig.
Zany, funny and endearing, with madness written all over him, Craig is exactly
the kind of person that he is once he is off the camera. No Jekyll and Hyde
business. And from 3 to 60, all the ladies out there are his fans. He has,
however, made sure that all the adulation and praise has not gone to his
head.
His colleagues are united in their opinion that Craig is a lion-hearted
person. Tell him to describe himself and out tumble the words - passionate,
outspoken, daring, careless and clumsy (he has assured us that there have
been no mishaps on the sets). And yes, admits Craig, "I think from the heart".
That explains why there is no place for logic in his life.
Craig loves all books on mythology. He is tickled pink by the exploits of
all those pagan gods, larger than life figures, supremely strong and powerful.
The greek god Zeus is his favourite hero, known for his fickle nature with
more than a healthy interest in the opposite sex.
As a child, bereft of friends, Craig for a long time lived in a world of
fantasy and imagination. The trees, he would regard as silent sentinels
and what fun if the bus could sprout wings and fly. Now, it is easy to understand
why he is enamoured of the Lord of the Rings movie series.
Craig is such a natural in front of the camera that it appears as if he
has befriended this black, inanimate object that often scares the hell out
of wannabe actors. He believes he has just two and a half minutes to make
his callers happy and admits that his ready wit has saved the day for him
many a time. For inspiration, he looks up to one of the funniest men in
Hollywood, Robin Williams.
This Scorpion is picky with whom he hangs out with and confesses that he
is a very family-oriented person; he considers his uncle to be the wittiest
person on this planet! His father he believes instilled in him discipline
and good values while his mother taught him resilience, fearlessness and
is in fact his biggest critic.
Quiz him on his future plans and Craig does not want to become a stand-up
comedian or an actor, but wants to titillate people's taste buds instead
- yes, he wants to open a theme restaurant.
Craig is almost like the mascot of SS Music. And what an endearing mascot
he is - smoothing away many a frown with his ready wit and being an elixir
for stressed out souls. |
