“Perumthachan” thopil ajayan passes away!
Veteran film maker, Thopil ajayan, who elevated the Malayalam cinema with his fine works, especially on directing the cult film ‘Perumthachan” passed away on Thursday. The director was survived by his wife and children parvathy and lakshmi.The director will be cremated on Friday, in the presence of his family.
thopil ajayan’s “perumthachan” became a cult classic film, which had actors Thilakan, Prashanth and monisha unni playing important roles. The film grabbed numerous awards including Indira Gandhi award, state film award for the best popular film, and also fetched him the best debut director.
Thopil ajayan, the eldest son of popular screen writer Thopil bhasi, started his career in Adyar film institute, Chennai. He worked as an assistant to Bharathan and Thoppil bhasi, and a cinematographer for many Tamil films.
The state mourns for the director, who had been an inspiration for many young film makers in south.
Pinarayi vijayan, the chief of Kerala shared his condolences to the director’s family. The note which came from the CM, mentions the director’s talent on pulling out the fans, and acclaiming many prestigious awards in a single film “Perumthacahan”.
