Karuppan Music Review
Following the Chartbuster albums of ‘Rummy’ and ‘Rekka’, D Imman and Vijay Sethupathi are collaborating for the third time now. Karuppan is a rural based entertainer starring Vijay Sethupathi, Tanya Ravichandran and Bobby Simha in lead roles. The film is directed by Renigunta fame Panneer Selvam and is produced by Aishwarya of Shri Sai Ram Creations. The album has 8 tracks that include 3 Karaoke versions.
Karuva Karuva Payale
Singers: Shankar Mahadevan, Shashaa Tripati
The song slightly reminds us off a track from Marudhu with a similar folk panache. Be it the rendering style of Shankar Mahadevan or Shashaa Tripati or the musical impression, it remains closely on the lines of that referred number. But it would definitely have its piece of attraction n the screens with the presence of Vijay Sethupathi and Tanya Ravichandran. The beats on the rhythmic pattern are well arranged and the singers deliver nuance performance.
Singer: Pradeep Kumar
The song will haunt your souls for the first time you hear it. A very special number that will remain in our hearts and would kindle you to go for constant ‘Play Mode’ on your charts…. A beautifully composed melodious song that has every department of orchestra, playback singer and lyrics artfully packaged. Pradeep Kumar just makes an impeccable spell over his rendition and this song will get everyone addicted.
Singer: Benny Dayal
The song might not immediately get into our senses. It has a routine style from D Imman and might take some time to brew up. Benny Dayal casually makes a best score with this number and even the lines by Yugabharathi are pretty decent. With the placement of song and picturing, it will precisely grab our attention.
Murukku Meesa Maama
Singers: Diwakar, Anitha Venkat
When compared to other songs, this turns out to be a mediocre number and might click well with the visuals. Maybe, who knows, if Vijay Sethupathi is going to shake legs for this item number, then it could have a magical touch. When it comes to singers, both Diwakar and Anitha Venkat deliver what is required for the song.
Singer: Ananya Bhat
After Azhagazhaga, this song instantly picks our senses with best adornment. The song has lots of appealing elements, which first and foremost is the singing style by Ananya Bhat. She just pulls of the song with a right touch. It is going to be top pick for many performers in concert. It has an emotional essence that is conceptualized by Yugabharathi and very well conveyed by Ananya Bhat.
As with marking verdicts for Karuppan album, couple of songs – Azhagazhaga and Usure Usure immediately become our favourite numbers. While the other tracks sound like an usual stuff from D Imman, we can wait for some time to see how it clicks well with the rural listeners.
Verdict: Well composed tracks, especially Azhagazhaga and Usure Usure.
